2024 baseball and softball all-stars

Maricopa Little League's All-Stars begins after the regular season and the playoffs.
Important Dates: Tryouts May 20th. Team announcements are made on May 25th with practice beginning on May 28th.

In contrast to the regular season, All-Stars aligns with age groups rather than divisions. We'll have field teams of 10u (ages 8-10) and 12u (ages 10-12) for softball. Baseball levels include 10u (ages 8-10), 11u (ages 9-11), 12u (ages 10-12), and 14u (ages 13-14). Players can be selected for an age-appropriate team regardless of their division during the regular season.

For instance, if players are 10 years old and participated in Majors during Spring, they can play in the 10u category (ages 8-10) instead of 12u (ages 10-12). As long as the player meets the eligibility requirements of games played (eight (8) regular-season games) and can provide the necessary documents (a government-issued raised seal birth certificate and two documents to prove they reside within Maricopa Little League's boundaries).

All Baseball and Softball levels will participate in the District Tournament with the opportunity to advance to the State Tournament. Majors and Juniors for Baseball and Softball will potentially advance to the Regional Tournament and then onto World Series events.

All-Stars is a significant commitment and exciting for our boys and girls. Throughout our All-Stars Season, we will continue encouraging sportsmanship, respect, courage, character, and Baseball/Softball ethics. There will be zero tolerance for a win no matter what mentality during All-Stars, as we uphold during our regular seasons.

how are all-star managers chosen?

Coaches Commitment Form

Maricopa Little League will interview interested coaches from teams in the regular spring season. Coaches must be in good standing with the league and exhibit qualities, abilities, and overall knowledge of the sport they want to coach. To be eligible you must have training completed prior to the interview if you have not already done so. The house rules state that a coach from each team will need to umpire at least 2 games to be eligible.

Winning teams in the tournament does not guarantee an all-star coach position.

Once the managers are selected, they will receive a list of approved assistant coaches. Our managers will have the chance to decide who they would like to choose as their assistant, and then the board will vote to approve Manager's selections.

Once all selections are chosen and approved, we will announce our Managers and Coaches for the 2024 All-Stars season.

how are players chosen for the all-star teams?

Maricopa Little League's All-Stars begins after the regular season and the playoffs. MLL will be fielding teams for both baseball and softball, and we're excited to offer all players aged 8-14 the chance to try out for the MLL All-Star teams.

Players must try out for All-Stars, and Managers and Coaches will select players for their All-Star Division.

Location: Pacana Park - Field #2

Softball check-in is at 4:30 pm, and tryouts will occur from 5:00 pm - 6:15 pm.
Baseball check-in is at 5:45 pm, and tryouts will occur from 6:45 pm - 9:00 pm.

HOW DO ALL-STAR MANAGERS EVALUATE PLAYERS?

Managers will start evaluating all players throughout the regular season and playoffs. Managers and coaches are the best sources for assessing potential players for the All-Star teams. They can inform the All-Star Managers on stats, overall performance, and more from working with the players throughout the regular season. The end-of-the-season evaluation and tryouts are also critical, but the seasonal coaches have the first eye on players' development throughout the season.

By the end of the season, All-Star managers know who they have their eye on for All-Star teams and will evaluate the player's skills, determination, and so much more during the All-Star tryout. At tryouts, the Managers will have the opportunity to meet and work with the players they have been scouting throughout the season and playoffs. They will have the chance to run drills with the players to help with their final decisions for their All-Star team.


what is the commitment for all-stars?

All-Stars season is a true commitment from Managers, Coaches, Players, and Families. Maricopa Little League wants to see our All-Star teams go as far as they can, which means the season can last up to 3 months. Practices will be at least four times a week, with games in the evening or on weekends. 

May 28, 2024, is when our All-Star practices will start, and MLL will want 100% dedication to all practices and game attendance. All of our All-Star players must be flexible and available throughout the summer, which could hinder/interfere with Summer Vacations. Please consider this when signing up for All-Stars. Once selected, a $100 All-Star fee will be paid to Maricopa Little League. 

Teams that win the District Tournament can progress to State, Regionals*, and World Series*. Our All-Star season is a memorable, fun, and exciting time for all involved, but it can come with some personal sacrifices.
